Therapy for Children & Teenagers
A safe space for children and adolescents to learn strategies for sustainable happiness.
A Safe Space to Discuss Emotions
Sometimes young people need someone to talk to other than their parents. A therapist provides a safe space for children and adolescents to explore their emotions, discuss their goals, develop their identity and learn skills and strategies to help them lead healthy, happy lives.
How a Counselor Helps Teens & Children
Before getting started, I will schedule a consultation with parents to discuss their concerns. During the consultation, we will schedule an intake session where I meet with parents and/or children as appropriate. Depending on the age of the child, the symptoms they are presenting, and their counseling goals, we develop a plan for ongoing therapy sessions and communication. For adolescents and teens, parents are much less regularly involved, but are encouraged to touch base periodically to answer questions and provide recommendations for supporting their teen’s therapy progress.

- Is your child showing signs of depression like low mood and hopelessness?
- Does your child seem moody or irritable?
- Has your child withdrawn from you and/or their friends?
- Are you having difficulty establishing rules or curbing poor behaviors?
- Are changes in your child’s routine difficult or stressful for them?
- Have you recently gone through a divorce, experienced a death in the family or are facing family challenges?
- Is your child experiencing a big transition like changing schools, moving to a new city or graduating?
